Tex twist has a unit length of 10cm, metric twist has a unit length of 1m, and imperial twist has a unit length of 1 inch.
Twist data for common yarn counts:
For 10s (10s) yarn, the twist is usually 50 twists/10cm per 10cm.
For 12s (12s) yarn, the twist is increased to 56 twists/10cm.
For 16s (16s) yarn, the twist is further increased to 59 twists/10cm, showing higher compactness.
When the yarn count increases to 21s, the twist also increases to 69 twists/10cm. This type of yarn is usually used in weaving and textiles that require higher strength and density.
For specially treated yarns, such as 10s/2 (two-ply 10s yarn), the twist is 35 twists/10cm, while the strong twist yarn of 12s/2 has 50 twists/10cm.
There are two sets of data for the strong twist yarn of 21s/2, one with 56 twists/10cm and the other with a lower twist of 26 twists/10cm, which may be designed for different uses or strength requirements.
The twist standards for 32s/2 yarn are 56 twists/10cm and 36 twists/10cm,
and 40s/2 yarn has 60 twists/10cm and 40 twists/10cm respectively. This high-strength yarn is suitable for making clothing or home textiles that need to be wear-resistant and durable.
