Functional yarn varieties and specifications and special yarns

Wool-type yarns are divided into three types according to the spinning processing system: combed wool yarn, carded wool yarn, and semi-combed wool yarn.

‌1. Combed wool yarn: Made using a combed wool spinning production line, the fibers are arranged straight, tightly bonded, the yarn uniformity and yarn strength are high, the appearance is smooth, the linear density is small, and the elasticity is good. It is used to produce fine and light wool fabrics. The specifications are generally 5.6~27.8tex (36~180 tex), mostly ply yarns, and are developing towards small linear density (high count).

‌2. Carded wool yarn: Spinned using a carded wool spinning production line, with more short fibers, uneven fiber arrangement, more fuzz, high linear density, not very smooth, and the yarn uniformity and strength are not as good as combed wool yarn. The fabric is generally thicker.

‌3. Semi-combed wool yarn‌: The processing technology is simpler than combed yarn, and finer than carded yarn. It is made of fine wool and corresponding chemical fiber production line with lower density wool yarn. The process flow is shortened and the cost is reduced. The product properties are between combed and carded. It is mainly used for weaving and knitting. The line density is generally between 10~33tex (30~100 tex). ‌
