Main types and characteristics of sock yarn

1. Basic materials

Pure cotton yarn: good moisture absorption and breathability, suitable for daily summer socks, but easy to deform and shrink and weak wear resistance;

Polyester (polyester fiber): low price, strong wear resistance, but poor moisture absorption, often used in low-cost sports socks;

Nylon (nylon): high strength, high wear resistance, mostly used in high-end sports socks and outdoor equipment;

Acrylic: imitation wool feel, good warmth retention, suitable for home socks and winter sleeping socks;

Bamboo fiber: natural antibacterial, breathable, suitable for summer leisure socks, but weak wear resistance;

Spandex: elastic fiber, often blended with cotton and polyester to improve the fit of socks.

2. Blended materials

Polyester-cotton blended: Combining the comfort of cotton and the wear resistance of polyester, it is cost-effective and suitable for daily wear;

Cotton-spandex blended: Pure cotton + spandex blended, enhances elasticity and retains moisture absorption, used for basic men's and women's socks;

Wool blended: Wool is combined with nylon/polyester to improve warmth and durability, suitable for winter socks.

3. Functional materials

Antibacterial yarn: Bamboo fiber or silver ion blended yarn, inhibits bacterial growth, suitable for sports socks;

Cool yarn: Add jade fiber or cool polyester, suitable for summer quick-drying socks;

High elastic yarn: Contains a high proportion of spandex or Lycra, used for compression socks or sports socks.

4. High-end materials

Mercerized cotton: 80S/100S high-count yarn, glossy and smooth, used for gentleman socks or business models;

Wool/cashmere: excellent warmth retention, delicate touch, suitable for high-end winter socks;

Vicuna: fiber diameter is only 11-13 microns (such as VI-TEX top series), natural and dye-free, environmentally friendly and luxurious;

Special yarn: such as imitation mink, crystal silk, etc., used for decorative socks or special design needs.

Selection suggestions

Seasonal adaptation: bamboo fiber and mercerized cotton are preferred in summer, and wool blends are recommended in winter;

Scene matching: sports scenes focus on wear resistance (nylon/polyester), business scenes require high quality (mercerized cotton/cashmere);

Budget control: cotton/polyester-cotton blends are selected for basic models, and vicuna or special fibers can be tried for high-end customization.
