Where can I find authoritative test reports on Antibacterial yarn?

Antibacterial yarn testing cycle is generally 3-9 working days, depending on the testing method (quantitative/qualitative), the number of strains and the qualification of the organization. Expedited service can shorten the cycle time to 3-5 working days. For complex tests (e.g. medical grade antimicrobial + washing resistance), it is recommended to reserve more than 7 days and communicate with the laboratory in advance. We recommend to reserve more than 7 days for complex tests (e.g. medical grade antibacterial + washing resistance) and communicate with the laboratory in advance.

Antibacterial yarn

  • Testing Standards

Domestic standards: GB/T 20944.3 (Oscillation method), FZ/T 73023 (Grade AAA antimicrobial requirements).

International standards: AATCC 100, ISO 20743, JIS L 1902 (covering parameters such as inhibitory ring and antimicrobial rate).

  • Application Process

Communicate the requirements: Define the test strains (e.g. E. coli, S. aureus), the number of times of washing resistance and other indicators.

Send samples for testing: Provide antibacterial yarn samples of not less than 30cm×30cm and blank control samples.

Report issuance: the testing cycle is usually 3-7 working days, support for expedited service.

  • International Mutual Recognition Organization

Zhejiang Fangyuan Inspection Group: attached to the textile and dyeing materials testing center in Zhejiang Province, supporting the EU MRA, U.S. CPSC certification.

Beijing Analytical Technology Research Institute (BATRI): provides international standard testing such as AATCC 147 (Parallel Scribing Method), which is suitable for export needs.

  • Scenario-based testing recommendations

Medical grade antimicrobial: choose organizations that support GB 15979 biosafety testing (e.g. Zhejiang Textile Testing and Research Institute).

Sports/Home Textile: Prioritize the organization that provides 50 times washing resistance test (e.g. China Textile Standard Zhejiang Laboratory).

Antibacterial yarn testing cycle description:

I. Regular testing cycle

  • Domestic testing organizations

Ordinary testing cycle is generally 3-9 working days, the specific length of time due to agency processes and testing projects vary. For example:

Basic antimicrobial performance test (e.g. bacterial inhibition rate, antimicrobial activity value) usually takes 3-5 working days.

Complex tests (e.g. wash resistance, multi-strain testing) may take up to 7-9 working days.

  • International standard testing

For tests involving international standards such as ISO 20743, AATCC 100, etc., the lead time is generally 5-7 working days, and time should be reserved for the international laboratory mutual recognition process.

II. Expedited Testing Options

  • Fast-track services

Some organizations provide expedited services, for example:

Report within 3 working days: for basic antimicrobial rate test (e.g. modified version of Quinn test method).

Comprehensive washing resistance + antimicrobial performance test within 5 working days (additional expediting fee is required).

  • Special Needs Coordination

For medical, export and other urgent needs, we can contact laboratories with “same day response” capability (such as Sinochem, Zhejiang Textile Testing and Research Institute) to complete the test within 48 hours at the earliest.

III. Key factors affecting testing time

  • Complexity of testing methods

Quantitative testing (e.g. ISO 20743 quantitative method) requires culture of bacteria and calculation of antimicrobial activity value, which takes a long time (7-9 days).

Qualitative testing (e.g., AATCC 147 Parallel Scribing Method) requires only observation of the inhibitory ring and has a shorter cycle time (3-5 days).

  • Sample size and pretreatment

Short cycle time for single samples (e.g. single strain testing), additional 1-3 working days for multiple batches or multiple strains (e.g. E. coli + S. aureus combined testing).

  • Differences in organization qualification and standards

CNAS/CMA accredited laboratories have standardized processes and relatively stable cycle times; non-accredited organizations may extend to more than 10 working days due to technical limitations.
