Core-spun Yarn vs Covered Yarn: Key Differences
Ⅰ. Difference in Core Yarn and Wrapping Material
Take spandex core-spun yarn and spandex covered yarn as examples
1、Core-spun yarn generally adopts synthetic filament yarn with high tenacity and good elasticity as the core, wrapped with staple fibers such as cotton, wool and viscose. For example, spandex core-spun yarn is made by wrapping spandex filament with staple fibers. It takes spandex yarn as the core and is covered with non-elastic staple fibers; the core filament is usually not exposed when stretched.
2、Covered yarn uses filament or staple fiber as the core yarn, which is wrapped with another type of filament or staple fiber strand. The outer wrapping yarn covers the core yarn in a spiral manner.
Ⅱ. Different Manufacturing Equipment
1、Core-spun yarn is produced on ring spinning frames. 2、Staple fiber covered yarn is made on doubling and two-for-one twisting machines, while filament covered yarn is produced on filament two-for-one twisting machines.

III. Difference in Production Process
