What Exactly Is Fancy Yarn?

Fancy yarns refer to yarns with special structures and visual appearances, which are produce by processing fibers and yarns with special techniques and professional equipment during the spinning process. They are a special type of decorative yarn.

Types of Fancy Yarns

I Melange Yarn

Yarns with varied surface colors, including colored spun yarn, multi-fiber blende yarn, and bicomponent yarn (AB yarn).

1、Colored spun yarn: dyeing first, spinning later

Yarns spun from fibers of different colors as raw materials.
Blending multi-colored fibers delivers well-harmonized yarn hues that cannot be achieved by conventional yarn dyeing.
Such yarns can be directly use for woven and knitted fabrics with no further dyeing required. The color of colore spun yarns cannot be altere once produce.

2、Multi-fiber Blended Yarn: Blending first, dyeing afterwards

Yarns are produced by blending fibers with different dyeing properties first, followed by multiple dyeing processes with dyes of distinct characteristics to achieve an effect similar to colore spun yarn.

Features: It offers great flexibility in dyeing and can be customize into various colors, whereas colored spun yarn cannot change its finalize color. However, it has certain limitations in raw material selection, which is generally limite to components with different dyeing performances.

3、Bicomponent Yarn (AB Yarn)

Two roving strands with different colors or dyeing properties are simultaneously fed into the spinning frame, then drafte by rollers and spun into yarn.
Two AB yarns of different colors can be twiste together to enrich the color variation of the finished yarn, creating up to four color tones. The yarn surface presents a distinct speckle color effect.

II Fancy Yarns

1、Spandex Core-spun Yarn

On the spinning frame, spandex filament is fed through the core yarn rollers. After being moderately stretche, it is delivere to the front nip of the spinning frame and combine with the drafte roving sliver. The drafted ribbon-shape fiber sliver wraps around the outer surface of the spandex filament Some core-spun yarns are wrapped with silk fibers and use for collars of silk T-shirts. Thanks to the shrinkage of spandex filament, knitted collars can maintain a firm and stiff shape.

2、Polyester Core-spun Yarn

The production method is similar to that of spandex core-spun yarn. High-tenacity polyester filament is use as the core yarn. After plying, such yarns can be made into high-strength polyester sewing threads; they can also be wove into canvas for conveyor belts.
