COOLMOON is a jade infused cooling yarn spun at 32/1 from 60% viscose and 40% polyester. We developed it for socks, underwear, activewear and linings, because these fabrics touch the skin all day. When the weather turns warm, that contact decides whether a garment feels fresh or clammy.
The difference between this jade infused cooling yarn and a standard viscose-polyester blend is the mineral inside it. We integrate the jade component during yarn production, so the cool touch and the antibacterial function belong to the yarn itself. In other words, they are not a finish sitting on the surface.
How the Jade Component Cools the Skin
Skin feels cool when a fabric draws heat away from it quickly. Jade, like most minerals, conducts heat much faster than polyester or viscose. As a result, a fabric that contains jade pulls warmth from the skin the moment it makes contact, and the wearer feels that as coolness.
Labs measure this effect as Q-max, the peak heat flow from a warm plate into the fabric. However, Q-max depends on the fabric as much as on the yarn. Stitch density, fabric weight and surface texture all move the number, which is why a higher Q-max does not always mean a cooler fabric. For this reason, we suggest testing the cool touch on your own knitted construction rather than comparing yarn data alone.
Why Viscose Leads the Blend
Viscose makes up 60% of the yarn because it gives a soft, smooth hand next to the skin. As a regenerated cellulose fibre, it also absorbs moisture far better than synthetics. Polyester, by contrast, has a standard moisture regain of only about 0.4%. Still, it earns its 40% share, since it adds strength, dries quickly and helps the fabric keep its shape after washing.
We spin COOLMOON on a compact system. Before twisting, the system condenses the fibres into a tighter bundle, so fewer loose ends stick out of the yarn. That gives you lower hairiness, higher strength and a cleaner knitted surface, which shows most on fine, lightweight fabrics.

Summer socks: The cool touch helps in hot weather, while the antibacterial function suits a product worn inside closed shoes.
Underwear and base layers: Because viscose is the main fibre, the fabric stays soft against the skin.
Activewear and lightweight knits: The polyester share also adds strength and quick drying to thin fabrics.
Linings: Since compact yarn has little hairiness, the lining face stays smooth and feels cool when it touches the body.

What does the jade in COOLMOON actually do?
It speeds up heat transfer from the skin. Jade conducts heat faster than the viscose and polyester around it, so the fabric draws warmth away more quickly at first contact. That is the cool touch wearers notice. Keep in mind that it is a contact sensation, so it is strongest at first touch and does not lower the air temperature around the body.
Will the cooling and antibacterial functions wash out?
We integrate the functional component during yarn production instead of adding it as a surface finish, so it is not a coating that washing can strip away. Even so, final performance depends on fabric construction, finishing and care. If your buyer asks for a wash-durability claim, test the finished fabric after the number of washes they specify.
Does a custom colour or count change the cooling effect?
Dyeing COOLMOON to a custom colour does not remove the function, since it sits inside the yarn. Changing the count is different, though. A finer or coarser yarn changes stitch density and fabric weight, and both affect how cool the fabric feels. So if you move away from 32/1, check the cool touch again on a knitted sample.
Can we claim “antibacterial” on finished socks made with COOLMOON?
The yarn carries an antibacterial function. However, a claim on a finished product needs a test on that product to back it. For example, if the sock plates COOLMOON with nylon or spandex, the share of COOLMOON in the fabric drops, and the result can change. Ask your retailer which method they accept, then test a knitted sample before the claim goes on your packaging.
Should we choose COOLMOON or a nylon-viscose cooling yarn for socks?
It depends on where your socks wear out first. COOLMOON puts the cool touch and the antibacterial function first. Our SOCOOL nylon-viscose sock yarn, on the other hand, uses nylon for strength and wear resistance and adds anti-pilling performance. That makes it the better fit for socks that face heavy friction at the heel and toe. You can also combine the two, with the nylon blend in the heel and toe and COOLMOON in the leg and foot.
