Keep Bio-Based Claims Specific

For domestic wash and drying work, buyer and supplier should agree on the machine type, detergent, wash procedure, drying method and number of cycles. ISO 6330:2021 defines domestic washing and drying procedures for textile testing, including several machine and drying options. Listing only “wash tested” is not enough because different routes can give different outcomes.

Care Claims Need Finished-Product Evidence
Easy care is valuable in a wool Sorona blend, but we must define it. Does it mean less creasing after packing, stable dimensions after five wash cycles, machine washing on a wool program, or tumble drying at a specified setting? These are different claims and need different evidence.
For wool-rich products, machine washability may require suitable wool selection, a shrink-resist route and careful control of the whole fabric. Tumble drying introduces heat and mechanical action that can change shrinkage, surface and hand. Therefore, we do not put “machine washable” or “tumble dry” into the specification until the final construction has passed the agreed procedure.
Buyers should also confirm pilling requirements, colorfastness, fiber content and restricted-substance expectations. If the program uses a Sorona® name or logo, the team should check the material source and applicable brand certification route before approving artwork. A supplier declaration alone may not be enough for a branded claim.
Durability Is Part of the Sustainability Decision
Renewable feedstock is one part of the material story. Product life is another.
